Why Capoeira? This martial art was born out of the struggles of enslaved Africans in Brazil, as an answer to oppression. It hides the movements within the rhythm, and the dance. Capoeira's history gives an insight into the culture, and these people of the diaspora, and how they survived so that we may enjoy the art and carry its message into the future.
